A Message from TWC Leadership

We are pleased to present The Washington Center's 2022 Annual Report, a testament to our resilience through the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as our organization’s desire to build for a stronger, more equitable and impactful future for all we serve.

As this report details, our calendar year 2022 programs remained relevant and engaging, serving more than 1,000 learners in their professional exploration and career-skills growth. Partnerships with more than 200 employer sites allowed us to fuel a pipeline of emerging talent into career pathways in private, public and federal sectors. And as we welcomed more students to in-person programing we found new ways to embrace the hybridity of work and life that will remain long into the future.

Beyond our programs, we also made critically important steps for our future, including the introduction in April 2022 of “Reshaping the Workforce – TWC’s 2022-2026 Strategic Plan.” This milestone work will shape our vision for the years ahead to positively impact the future of work. It's a blueprint for our transformation into a more innovative, equitable and resilient organization, better positioned to meet the needs of our learners and partners. Strategic focus areas outlined in the plan demonstrate our dedication to excellence:

Talent and Workforce Readiness Programs: We have a new guiding light for program innovations to meet the challenges of the future of work. Whether it's enhancing our Academic Internship Program, crafting enriching seminars or developing cutting-edge short-term skills and networking bootcamps, guided by TWC's Innovation Institute we are steadfast in our mission to empower the workforce of tomorrow.

Leading Solutions: Through data analysis, research and market trends, TWC will solidify our position as a leader in workforce readiness, career-connected learning and equitable community growth. We aim to be the go-to partner for learners, employers, federal and local government and more as we navigate the evolving landscape of post-COVID workforce development.

Organizational Resilience: Our commitment to building a stronger organizational foundation is unwavering. From ensuring technology to provide different modalities of learning to prioritizing equitable recruitment and compensation, while embedding justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI) into every facet of our operations, we are laying the groundwork for lasting success.

Our strategic plan serves as our compass, guiding us toward a future where The Washington Center stands as a beacon of innovation, opportunity and progress. With it, we are confident in our ability to deliver on our mission of creating flexible, immersive pathways to enhance the pipeline of diverse talent and build more equitable, inclusive workplaces and communities.

The success of 2022 reinforces the resilience of our staff, partners, donors and Trustees, while reigniting our passion to empower every learner to secure a better future for themselves and the world around them. Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to shaping our own future and the work ahead.

Onward!
