Values
At The Washington Center, our values guide our mission work in every regard–internally and externally.
Equity & Inclusion
We believe in advancing equity and inclusion and the long-term success of learners of any age or background, especially those historically marginalized. We stand against hate and use our voices to ensure an equitable community. We aim to create an inclusive, brave space for our staff, students, and all stakeholders, where everyone’s differences are honored, every perspective is valued, and everyone is safe to bring forth their authentic selves. We believe these commitments will lead to better-prepared staff and a more inclusive workspace.
Learning
We believe that everyone is a student and aim to build a better ecosystem of learning and skilling. We adapt to changing circumstances and deliver quality and value in all that we do. We create immersive and flexible pathways to meet changes in needs in the ever-evolving higher education and job market.
Connection & Collaboration
We believe that meaningful partnerships will allow for scale to reach more learners and create a lasting impact. We will bolster and collaborate with partners to ensure market-driven, learner-centric and funder-aligned solutions. We will leverage the best of technology through virtual, hybrid and in-person learning.
Integrity
We believe integrity is the foundation on which we build trusted relationships and is fundamental to the future of the workforce. With eroding trust in institutions nationally and globally, we will center integrity and transparency with higher education and the workforce. We will instill the critical importance of honesty and ethics in leadership to our students and learners.
Impact
We consistently analyze and evaluate our work and strive to make a positive and lasting difference for society in quantified and qualified demonstrated ways. As we seek to always innovate and iterate, we will foster a culture that is curious and not afraid to test ideas or fail-fast to advance our mission. By centering our justice, equity, diversity and inclusion commitments in all that we do, we will contribute to a stronger future workforce with proven accountability. We will create real-world metrics to meet the market challenges and show proof of concept with outcomes, not merely outputs.
This program made me realize so many things about myself, my weaknesses, and my strengths. I am not the person I thought I was. This whole experience has changed me for the better.”
